the stewart’s – Maple Grove Wedding Photographer

Barry & Emily were married in Jamaica in December 2012. Surrounded by loving family and friends they returned to throw one great celebration this passed February, in Maple Grove. They had asked me to photograph their friends and family enjoying the wonderful beach themed party.

Children were tiring themselves out on the dance floor, bright pink [floatable] flamingo can holders were popping up all over the place, dance moves busting on the dance floor, and the room was full of smiles, love and laughter!

Thank you, Barry & Emily, for including me in on such a wonderful celebration! I wish you nothing but love and happiness in your married life together!!

Cheers, Em!

what an experience

Although I have not known Kristen and Jamie personally but for a few months, in my (and many others) photography world, they were FAMOUS.

When I was really starting to put a lot of time, focus, and energy into my camera and learning as much as I could about photography, my sister said “You HAVE to check these two out!” (she used to live with Kristen and Jamie while attending UMD.) The blog post she showed me on Kristen’s website is still my favorite to date, check it out! So months and years had passed, I had followed Kristen’s blog and Facebook page, liked photos, showed her to all of my friends and other photographers. Finally,  my sister got engaged, AND booked Kristen and Jamie to shoot her wedding! I was ECSTATIC! I finally got to see them at work. I do have to admit, I was star struck! You can check out Chris and Sarah’s wedding photos here.

A few weeks passed after the wedding and I got a friend request from Kristen on Facebook with a very exciting message that she was looking for someone to help shoot a wedding. By this time I am dancing all over my apartment, um . . . YES! Why wouldn’t I want the experience of a lifetime??

Which brings me to THE experience. Kristen was the Matron of Honor in her best friend, Rachel’s, wedding. Rachel wanted the creative eye of a wonderful photographer but the company of her best friend on such a special day. SOOO that is where they included me. I accompanied Jamie while Kristen fulfilled her duties as MOH and than took over so they could enjoy the rest of the celebration with friend and family, together!

Kristen and Jamie, you guys are the coolest! Thank you for the experience and providing me with your expertise! I am SO grateful!

Below I have posted just a few images from the day.

You can read Kristen’s experience in playing both roles here and see all of Rachel and Zach’s wedding blog post here.

ashley & nate – Brainerd Maternity Photographer

As the year is coming to an end, I have been thinking about what I want to do differently in 2013. . .

As a photographer, a lot of my time goes into not only photographing, but also feeding through and editing the photos to my own perfection. I feel like I know my “models” or clients to each freckle on their nose. This next year, my goal is to take the extra time to get to know my “models” or clients in a different more personal way, and make sure their photo experience is memorable. Also, I’d like to take the time to allow my readers to get to know each session’s story as they view the special images selected and posted into my blog.

So I’ll start today =)

Meet Ashley & Nate [and their beautiful baby bump].
Both from the Brainerd area, Ashley is finishing up school to become a nurse, while Nate just returned from Basic Training in Georgia [just in time for the Holidays!] Nate contacted me just days after graduating to take photos of their baby bump. . . “as soon as we return”.  They are expecting a beautiful baby girl early March. They had chose a special place in Nisswa, Minnesota to capture their excitement for their bundle of joy’s arrival, and their love for each other. They braved the cold weather to pose in the beautiful sun and snow to capture some very romantic maternity photos.

I am in LOVE with these photos and in awe with their love for one another.
I hope this series of images makes you all smile as much as I did.

These just might be my favorite. . .

Burberry Baby Bump <3

Ashley & Nate, thank you SOOOOOO much! I am so glad to be part of this special time in both of your lives, I cannot wait to meet  your beautiful Baby Girl!

cheers – em

jeff, kara & miss olivia – Grand Rapids Family Photographer

I met Jeff and Kara through family and friends. They welcomed Miss Olivia into the world a little earlier than expected on October 30th. Olivia was calm and sleepy through our whole shoot (those of you with kids or who take pictures know that this is rare!)

We started our day taking some photos inside but the fog, snow, and green outside made us all very excited to get in some wonderful natural light photos and a good cuddle!

I am so honored to get to share Olivia’s first photo session with you all, and a little bit of engagement love from Kara & Jeff.

I hope you all enjoy these Holiday Photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Cheers!

Santa Baby…

I’m pretty sure this is my favorite of the day!
OK, I lied… this next series may be my favorite… you can have more than one right??
